Storage

Electricity from photovoltaics and wind farms can be transformed into Hydrogen through electrolysis, which would then be mixed with natural gas in the gas network. Together with this, Hydrogen could be transported, stored, and then consumed in end-use devices ranging from domestic stoves to district heating boilers. Hydrogen storage is part of the European Hydrogen Backbone1 strategy in which EPIF is participating. According to this strategy, by 2035, facilities should be built across Europe to store hydrogen and transport it via pipelines across the continent. It is the existing gas infrastructure that is an advantage that can be exploited for hydrogen storage and transit. EP Infrastructure is actively declaring its willingness to create facilities that would allow hydrogen to be stored at such a level that a network of refueling stations for cars, mass heating of homes and factory premises could be comfortably created. For example, in Slovakia NAFTA operates a system of underground gas storage with a capacity of 27.7 TWh.  EP Infrastructure therefore welcomes this activity by the European Hydrogen Backbone and is happy to participate through Eustream with more than 3 billion cubic meters of storage capacity2.   1   https://gasforclimate2050.eu/ 2   https://cepconsult.com/publications/eustream-creates-its-way-into-the-future/  The post Storage appeared first on EP INFRASTRUCTURE.

Gas transmission

According to study of “Gas for Climate”, gas pipelines1 are ideal for the hydrogen transit. Using this type of transmission makes the use of hydrogen cheaper and more efficient than batteries or fuel cells, which are suitable for hydrogen-powered buses or
