} }V české legislativě (konkrétně zákonem č. 47/2020 Sb.) je DTM definována jako “databázový soubor obsahující údaje o dopravní a technické infrastruktuře a vybraných přírodních, stavebních a technických objektech a zařízeních, které zobrazují a popisují jejich skutečný stav.” Dle výše uvedeného zákona je DTM vedena pro území kraje. Proto jsou zásadní součástí rodiny projektů DTM ČR digitální technické mapy krajů (DTM K). Správcem DTM K je příslušný krajský úřad v přenesené působnosti. Vedle geografických dat je neodmyslitelnou součástí DTM také informační systém obsahující nástroje pro správu, údržbu a publikaci těchto geodat. Informační systém pro provoz DTM K zajišťují příslušné kraje. Centrální komponentou bude tzv. Informační systém DMVS (IS DMVS) realizovaný Českým úřadem zeměměřickým a katastrálním. Projektantům a investorům umožní DTM pracovat s aktuálními, ověřenými a jednotně zpracovanými daty o všech druzích dopravní a technické infrastruktury.
